Welcome to the official website of Livingston County Sunrise Rotary Club's highly-anticipated annual charity gala, "Midnight in the Tropics!" This remarkable event has consistently been a sell-out success, and from 2014 through 2025, the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Foundation (LSRF) has proudly given back over $1.25 million to non-profit organizations and service providers, with the majority of these funds remaining right here in Livingston County.

For this year's gala, we are thrilled to announce that the Livingston County Sunrise Rotary Club has selected three outstanding local non-profit organizations as beneficiaries: The Howell Veterans Association, Community Catalyst, and The Torch.

2026 BENEFICIARIES

Proceeds from Midnight in the Tropics 2026 will benefit the following local charities and the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Foundation:

Howell Veterans Association

Funds raised will help the Howell Veterans Association purchase three new ovens as part of the Howell American Legion’s kitchen expansion. This investment will allow the Legion to place greater emphasis on its Tuesday Night Program for young adults with developmental disabilities and special needs, helping participants gain independence and confidence as they learn to work in a kitchen. The new ovens will also strengthen the Legion’s year-round mission that no one walks away hungry, while supporting annual community traditions such as the Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day soup kitchen meals.

Community Catalyst

Funds will support Community Catalyst in the ongoing upkeep of Bethel Suites, a transitional housing facility that helps clients as they work toward establishing permanent housing. In addition, proceeds will go toward the rehabilitation of a recently purchased duplex in Howell, which will expand their ability to serve entire families in need of transitional housing, as the Bethel facility currently accommodates only one or two individuals per unit.

The Torch 180

Torch 180 was recently gifted a building in downtown Fowlerville by Lake Trust Credit Union, which they are in the process of refurbishing to fully utilize all three floors. The top floor will serve as a training apartment for program participants with developmental disabilities and special needs, helping them learn the skills needed to live independently. The middle floor will provide retail space where participants can showcase and sell their crafts and products, while the lower level will become a “Maker Space” — an incubator for product ideas, training, and testing. Funds from this event will help furnish and equip the Maker Space, ensuring participants have the tools and resources to succeed.

Thank you for your time and consideration on behalf of the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club and the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Foundation.
