About Us

First established in 1927, Fort Wayne Civic Theatre is Indiana’s second largest community theatre and one of the nation's oldest. Our signature program is our large-scale live theatrical performances featuring the talents of approximately 400 local volunteers each season. Our performances provide the community with high quality entertainment. Our shows are selected to educate and inspire our audiences and volunteers as well as entertain them. For our 2024-25 season, we will produce five shows, reaching an anticipated audience of over 20,000.

We also have 2 special programs, In The Wings, which was launched in 1988 in response to schools and social service agencies wanting to incorporate the arts into their activities. The program serves at-risk/economically disadvantaged youth (K-12th grade) and their families, elderly adults, and individuals with disabilities. This program currently reaches over 150 schools and 70 social service agencies. Our second program, Project Lights Up, was created in 2015 in collaboration with the AWS Foundation to serve individuals with Autism and/or other sensory needs. The program includes both special performances modified to provide a sensory friendly atmosphere, as well as the implementation of universal design goals, enabling these populations to experience any performance and feel safe, included, and welcomed.
