Halter worn by Rachel Alexandra! Simply put, Rachel Alexandra is one of the greatest race mares of modern times.  Bred by Dolphus C. Morrison, she was good at two, winning three of six starts including the G2 Golden Rod, with seconds in the G3 Debutante and Pocahontas Stakes. But something clicked over the winter; in her debut at three, she won the Martha Washington by 8 lengths, the G2 Fair Grounds Oaks by 1 3/4, and the G1 Fantasy by 8 ¾ lengths. Then, in a remarkable exhibition, Rachel flew home first in the G1 Kentucky Oaks by 20 widening lengths.

Rachel Alexandra was bought by Stonestreet Stables and Harold McCormick before her next start, the G1 Preakness, when she trounced Derby winner Mine That Bird. Next out, she won the G1 Mother Goose by 19 ¼ lengths and beat the boys again in G1 Haskell Invitational by 6 over Belmont winner Summer Bird. Against older males, she won the G1 Woodward, and was given much deserved vacation, earning the Eclipse Awards for 2009 Champion Three-Year-Old Filly and Horse of the Year.

Rachel returned at four, with seconds in the New Orleans Ladies and G2 La Troienne, then romped in the G2 Fleur de Lis Handicap by 10 ½ lengths. She won the Lady’s Secret and was a stubborn second in the G1 Personal Ensign Stakes, her final start. Certificate of authenticity included.
